Chess classes for children in Istanbul 9
About this list
For an Istanbul parent, a chess class almost always means a weekend slot at an academy. The Satranç İstanbul branches teach children in groups once a week, in morning or afternoon slots on Saturday or Sunday, and their youngest groups start at preschool age. The branches are spread out so that most families can find one nearby: Kadıköy, Ataşehir, Maltepe and Üsküdar on the Asian side, Levent, Bahçelievler, Beylikdüzü and Halkalı Atakent on the European side.
Galatasaray’s academy sorts its Saturday lessons by age, from the first school years to teenagers and adults, with an online option, and moves to a hall in Levent on Sunday. Both publish a monthly fee for the season. The lessons lead naturally to the children’s tournaments held in shopping centres around the city, which have their own page under the places to play. Galatasaray splits its season into an autumn and a spring term, so February is the second point at which a child can start.
